Au programme

Conquer the historical Laitakari island where Kemi city has been born over 150 years ago. The guide will teach you the basics of walking on the ice and you'll get to visit the historical industrial monuments of the now deserted Laitakari island. The icetrek consists of total 3 km walking in sea ice and flat terrain.

Prices include guiding in English and rental of icetrekking poles, boots and in case of open ice also mandatory helmets. Also winter / thermal outdoor clothing provided if needed. Tours are subject to change due to weather conditions. e-Coach reserves the right to change the routing and duration without prior notice.

Qui est Marko - le/la Doer

I'm nature explorist and born in Kemi. I like doing extreme sports like orienteering, skiing, trail running, multisports and rogaining which some of I am also the Finnish Champion. For outdoor activities and Aurora hunts I know the best places and surroundings around Sea Lapland. I can also photoshoot and help to adjust the camera settings for catching the best photos like Northern lights etc.

Thank you Marko for sharing with us lots of background and stories about the area and auroras. You are also very talkative and full of humor! Even now we are back in Belgium, when we feel a bit down... we remember: "Check the sky! - I'll check the sky", and we smile. Also, thank you for sharing your spots and sources of information for going hunting by ourselves after that. We didn't see the auroras together, but we were able to look for them on our own after that, following your advice. Also, many thanks for the warning you gave us by WhatsApp the following day, we would probably have missed them without it, after that cloudy evening. Fare well until next time!

Many thanks to Marko and his brother! Great experience. We did not see the Aurora but they are so nice, and shared with us lot of stories about history of Kemi and surroundings, made barbecue with us and tried different spot to catch the Aurora. Definitely recommended!
